    Virginia Ruthette Ericksen Laird, 98, longtime resident of Dubois, Idaho, passed away June 8, 2010, at her home in Overton, Nev. She was born Feb. 1, 1912, in Mount Pleasant, Utah, to Leonard Ericksen and Jennette Staples Ericksen. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Hamer, Idaho, where she graduated from Hamer High School. She continued her education by attending Ricks College in Rexburg, where she received an associate degree in education. She taught school in Hamer and Dubois, Idaho, for more than 30 years until her retirement in 1976. On Dec. 31, 1934, she married Lyndon "Slim" Laird in Evanston, Wyo. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on March 13, 1965. Slim preceded her in death on Dec. 24, 1986. Virginia was a devoted mother, grandmother and homemaker. She also volunteered at the Senior Citizens Center. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Virginia enjoyed playing piano and playing cards. She especially loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Survivors include her daughters, Lynda (Boyd) Brown of Overton, Nev., and Janet (Michael) Leonardson of St. Anthony; brother, Max (LeIsle) Ericksen of Dutch John, Utah; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a grandson, Patric Leonardson; and a brother, Douglas Ericksen. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, June 14, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and from noon to 12:45 p.m. Monday, both at the funeral home. Burial will be in Dubois Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.woodfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Senior Citizens Center, P.O.
